A Real Estate Social Network Built On A WordPress Community

We have officially moved the old WannaNetwork.com platform over to a new WordPress multi-user blogging community.

Recent advances in open source technology, real estate blogging, and social media, have given us the ability to finally bring WannaNetwork.com in sync with current Web 2.0 standards.

The opportunities and possibilities are wide open.  As the real estate social media forward thinkers continue to develop new tools and methods of communicating online, this platform has the capacity to evolve at the speed of innovation.

This day has been in the works for over a year, and we’re excited to give a new breed of Internet savvy real estate professionals the tools they need to be successful online.

Bullets:

  • Creating a profile –

If you previously had a username and email address on the old platform, you have been emailed a link to login and create a new password.

If you are just now getting started, you just have to click the join button in the top right and complete the few basic steps.

  • Setting up free WordPress blogs –

Once you are logged in, there will be a navigational bar at the top of the screen, as well as a place in your profile settings to create new blogs.

We’re in the process of uploading new templates to choose from.  There will be an option to upload your own custom templates in the near future.

  • Joining the forum –

The forum is new, which means we have a clean slate in 2009 going forward.  The old forum will still be visible, however, we chose not to transfer over that content at this time.  To keep things simple and streamlined, there are only a few discussion categories in our forum.  You also have the ability to connect with other members by participating on their personal WannaNetwork.com blogs.

  • Connecting with friends –

Depending on your personal “social networking” strategy, you have the ability to add other real estate professionals to your feeds, blogging groups, and friend’s list in your profile area.  Just as you would manage your friends / networking partners on Facebook or Mybloglog, it is perfectly acceptable to require people to earn the right to be on of your affiliate.

In Development:

  1. Facebook Plugin
  2. Twitter Plugin
  3. Stream your current outside blog activity through your profile feeds
  4. Google Community Plugin
  5. Listing Syndication Services
  6. Many more things….  If you have suggestions, please contact us or list them in the forum.

Goals for the first week of Feb. 2009:

Even though we have a few highly qualified programmers developing this new site for us, we’re still learning all of the new features and kinks.  WordPress just recently released this type of a community platform, so I can imagine that there are going to be a few sleepless nights for all of us on the team.

We’re in the process of writing several “getting stated” pages to help explain the basic steps involved with navigating the site.  Please help us keep the momentum going by placing any questions in the forum so that other members can participate in the education.

Thanks again for your support and patience over the past two years.  We look forward to your future real estate social networking success.

*If you have a blog on blogs.wannanetwork.com and cannot create an account with your user name on WannaNetwork.com, please contact an admin.  We have blocked certain urls for our members that created urls on blogs.wannanetwork.com.

This is VERY impressive! I’m excited about what you have in development. Porting this through FaceBook and Twittter is brilliant. Streaming an outside blog through here will save a LOT of work. Thanx so much for all the work you have done and are doing to make this a great tool for the real estate industry.

    Congratulations!
    David

Having to re-educate myself on wannanetwork is a chanllenge, but I know that I will need to learn how to blog and post on forums. I like the way the new site looks though.
