Emails From Market Leader?

by Tony Sena on March 23, 2009

Anyone besides me receiving emails from Market Leader?  For those of you who are not familiar with Market Leader,  they are formerly known as House Values.  I am sure many of you can figure out why they changed their name from House Values to Market Leader but that’s besides the point.

I have not received an email from Market Leader until I joined Active Rain back in June 2008.  Since I joined Active Rain I have received several emails from Market Leader.  This was the most recent one I received:

Antonio,

We are selectively seeking strong agents in YOUR area to work with a steady stream of prospects.

If you are ready to grow your business with Internet-savvy buyers, please call ######### or Click Here Now.

Only serious agents need respond. When you call, please be ready to discuss:

* Growing your business
* Managing your prospect database
* Your preferred neighborhood(s)

It appears Market Leader wants to teach me how to use the Internet to connect with savvy real estate buyers.  I guess I should contact them and maybe they can teach me a thing or two on how to grow my Las Vegas Real Estate business on line!  Too funny!  If I needed help, which I don’t, I would contact someone like Pat Kitano, Brian Brady, Greg Swann or Morgan Carey before I would contact House Values Market Leader.

The point is I don’t  think it is right that AR has allowed Market Leader access to their member’s list regardless if they have a minor ownership of AR or not.  I read an article by one of the owners of AR a while back who indicated that AR would not give Market Leader access to their membership list but I can’t seem to find that article any more.  Either way, Market Leader has my contact information and they emailed me at an email address that I haven’t used in quite some time but it’s listed on AR.  Now I can’t say for sure without a doubt that’s where they got my email address, but I am pretty sure since any recent email list would have one of my more updated email addresses I use for my real estate business.

As I write this article, I just received another email from them, “MasterMind Call: Search Engine Marketing,” thanks AR!

Amazing. I’ll keep an eye out for these emails, Tony. I pounded the boards pretty hard on AR early on, but have slacked off a good bit. Seems like a few changes have come across over there in recent past. I do know if I hadn’t been blogging on their site before they started the pay model, I most likely would not have started blogging there. I will say this: ActiveRain helped push my search engine optimization a bit with Localism, so it was worth the early effort there.

Tony,

No one has our member information including Market Leader. They have not obtained your email address from our database, guaranteed.

Bob,

Well that is good to know! But now you made more for work for me in trying to determine how they received an email address I haven’t used in quite some time.

Tony,

I too have gotten quite a few of these annoying emails from House Values/Market Leader! Unfortunately I can’t shed any light as to how they may have gotten my email address either. I don’t publish on my website, that’s for sure.

I have received some emails from Market Leader as well. I did not realize that they were a result of Active Rain. I did know that they are the old House Values recreated into a new format. I have past experince with House Values and not interested in doing business with the reincarnated company.
