Did anyone see the press release that was put out today by the National Association of Realtors®? According to the press release the National Association of Realtors® is helping make limited medical insurance available for Realtors®, through REALTORS® Core Health Insurance. Realtors® that don’t have health insurance, which 1 in 4 Realtors® do not, are now guaranteed to get approved for limited Health Insurance.
This is definitely a move in the right direction and I am happy to see NAR making some headway, but my question is why is this limited Health Insurance? We are one of the largest organizations in the United States and we don’t have the ability to get full health coverage for our membership of Realtors®? Many Realtors® cannot afford private health insurance because it is so expensive and the recession isn’t making it any easier for them to obtain health insurance.
I don’t know about you, but I feel we as Realtors® spend more than our fair share of dues to NAR and our membership should include some type of limted health insurance. I always hear there is power in numbers but I just don’t see NAR going after what is important to the everyday Realtor®. NAR is sending us emails to back stimulus plans that many of us don’t support!
So like I said, I am glad to see some progress by NAR, but I would like to see a complete health insurance program for my fellow Realtors®!

Tony,
Thank you for the input. I’m on a cobra plan(which is big money for us 3), and this is about to expire in the next few months. Even though this will be a limited plan at least they are finally offering this.
We do pay a lot to CAR(MY CASE) and NAR, we should have the option of a full medical plan, and cut out some of the other member benefits that no one ever uses.
Talk to you soon.
Bernie
I looked over this plan and took it to my doctors office. It’s totally worthless and I would not recommend it for anyone. You still go bankrupt when you have a surgery or cancer, And for those instances we should be covered for! It’s shameful and irresposible for the Association to even suggest such a plan.,
