WannaNetwork Will Be Shutting Down The Social Network On September 30, 2009.

by Mark Madsen on September 16, 2009

Notice Date: Sep 16, 2009

WannaNetwork.com will be shutting down the social networking component of our web site on September 30, 2009, which will include the following:

1. Forum
2. Personal Profiles
3. Personal Blogs
4. Groups

If you wish to save the content on your personal blogs, you can click on the export function under the tools menu in your blog’s dashboard.

We will be keeping one simple multi-contributor blog in order to allow some of our active and loyal members to participate.

If you would like your content to be considered for the new multi-contributor platform, please email (tony@wannanetwork.com) with your user name and blog (s) name.

__________

Why is WannaNetwork.com taking this drastic new direction?

spam

Unfortunately, our vision to provide a free high traffic real estate social networking solution for industry professionals has attracted the wrong crowd.

Basically, it is a full-time job managing and developing a multi-user blogging platform that is constantly plagued with vicious spammers.

While we have done our absolute best over the past three years to provide our members with a powerful online presence for free, we have ultimately failed at integrating a viable revenue model that will support the evolving demands industry professionals need with online technology.

After weighing the options of either charging for blogs, selling more advertising, or exploring affiliate marketing relationships, we’ve decided to simplify things by moving our few real members to one multi-contributor blogging platform.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Zillow, Trulia and hundreds more have literally dominated the social networking space in the past two years.

And, good for them.  They’ve got hundreds of millions in venture capital to continue pushing forward in this online social networking innovation race.  We are sincerely looking forward to their success because our personal real estate and mortgage businesses are depending on it.

However, for this humble small WannaNetwork.com crew, we’ve found our individual places and passions with social media through the process of this project.

We love blogging, social media, networking and building equity in our own local online presence.

__________

Going Forward…  What’s Next?

To our loyal members and friends that have helped build this site over the years – Thank you so much for the support and patience.  We’re still committed to your success online, and we’ll work with you to make sure you continue to benefit from this site.

Please send an email to tony@wannanetwork.com if you would like to have us move your content over to the main blog and put you in the blogroll.

To the spammers that feel it is necessary to send hate emails every time the site has a setback – You have until September 30, 2009 to copy your content or export it from your blogs.

This will be the final notice.

Thank you.

As you know I have been here for a long while. I noticed and even blogged about the non use of networking. We all know things are changing in the real estate world. I have offered a new marketing platform here and not one agent, broker, lender, inspector, or any other business in real estate has used iwannatrade.com. My blogs have been on top of google for a couple of years and if you search bank repo’s in most Southern California cities I am front page.
I can see why you are making changes and I hope they work for you. I hope I can be a part of your new system as I do enjoy wannanetwork and people on here. So once again as a networker who tries to make things better I do offer you a place to expand your walls and get on track to networking to the max. Contact me Jon Varley 909-499-8076 or jon@iwannatrade.com

Sad to see this come to the network.

Jon, I went to your iwannatrade.com. Is it an auction site? A lot of real estate professionals may not really have something they can offer in auction format. A nice service to offer none the less but that may be why you haven’t seen many people come from WannaNetwork and signup.

Dear Admin,
Thanks for visiting but it is not an auction site it is a marketing platform!!

I have classifieds, trades, and auctions my site is 3 sites in 1. Read some of my blogs I even tried to keep the repo’s in the agents/brokers hands by holding thier own auctions for the banks. I sent proposals to B of A and country before the merged. I pushed to open your own real estate store free and had every state listed ready for them. I stated this long before the crash. If we all get together and network you all in the real estate business have properties and services to sell I have the platform and if they want just use the free classifieds, My free classifieds are worldwide, my auctions are 8 bucks nor percentage taken out of any sale. and the trade section can be used to market properties and services. http://www.iwannatrade.com

Jon, I just looked at your site again and it still looks like an auction site with only 2 items under the real estate category. What are we missing?

Thanks

Mark,
You are missing all of wannanetwork.com’s members using a platform with, free classifieds, a trade section, and real online auctions.

Just for kicks search hot repo’s on google–or bank repo’s norco– a lot of blogs are there some I wrote on wannanetwork some on my blog sites. kinda cool being on top with the big guys!! Just think where together we can take US.

The site looks great!! Now think outside the box and lets make http://www.iwannatrade.com the place offered to your readers. It only takes a little time the cost can by free if they choose. I still think together this will be good for everybody/

search Hot Repo’s

Jon – you are borderline spamming the comment section of this article by continuing to link back to your site.

I’m sorry, but we’re not going to push our readers to an outside auction site. This is simply a group real estate blog now, and we’re just going to focus on building some valuable content.

However, you are more than welcome to contact Tony about purchasing some advertising space in that big box in the top right corner.

Thanks

Hey Mark!!
Look, you can check out how I have tried to help wannanetwork Now you try to say I am spamming well here is the dictionary definition of spam– You and I were discussing what type of site I have So you won’t have to worry anymore I am taking wannanetwork off my networking.
I do not send unwanted emails.

Jon –

Thank you for the Dictionary.com info, but I was mainly referring to this specific definition:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_in_blogs

Here is all I said about spam:

“you are borderline spamming the comment section of this article by continuing to link back to your site. ”

As you can see, I didn’t suggest that you were a spammer, or abusing WN.

It just seemed odd that you continued to include a backlink to your site in the same comment discussion.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you had with spammers. I’m building a paid social networking / blogging site for the real estate community. I’ve just launched the beta version of it. I just thought I’d mention it in case you would like a place to refer members who miss those features.
