Mick,

Even though I am the Social Media guy here at DotLoop, I tend to agree with you. There's something to be said about sitting down and having a conversation face to face with a friend without any computer or cell phone screens between us.

Social Media is a tool, and like all tools, can be used to help foster better relationships or can be abused and damage true friendships.

All in all, though, people will still be people no matter how much technology tries to come between them. This is movie theaters will never go away--people are at their most basic, social animals.

I draw a bit on the side and I still would rather use watercolors over Photoshop--it's just not the same when you have to point and click. Sometimes it's nice to get your hands dirty :)

Thanks for the thoughts!

Just as you've been looking back at the future, I'm looking back at the past. I really miss the days before call awaiting, caller ID, voice mail, iPhones and Blackberries (PDAs). I do, however, greatly appreciate microwaves, cell phones (basic cell phones), PC, Internet, DVRs, and movies on demand. Maybe I'm nostalgic, but I actually liked it much better when everything wasn't sooooo accessible and social networking really meant being social and getting to know people.
