Forbes U.S. Migration Map For Hyper Local Real Estate Blogging

If you have not seen Forbes’ U.S. Migration Map you are in for a treat. The Forbes’ Migration Map is an interactive map that lets you pick a county and see where folks are moving to and moving from. Colleen and I help clients buy and sell Kennewick homes and the interactive map is of great use to us.  For example, the map shows our clients the health of our county’s economy (Benton County) compared to the county just next door to us, Adams County. Our area’s housing market and economy is one of the strongest in the nation so you’ll see more black lines than red lines in Benton County. Adams County does not have a strong economy so more people are leaving Adams County than people relocating to Adams County. See screenshots below.

That’s it, short and sweet. I just wanted to share this cool tool with the Wanna Network community with hopes the tool might help in the pursuit of the perfect hyper-local blog entry! Oh, and btw, if you do not know how to create the images below, see our Squidoo lens on using the Print Screen key on your keyboard, and/or consider using the free ScreenPresso. We prefer ScreenPresso!

Benton County

Benton County

People are moving to Benton County as compared to Adams County due to the strong housing market and economy. Black lines are folks relocating to, red lines are folks moving away from.

Franklin County

Franklin County

Source: Internal Revenue Service data. The IRS only reports inter-county moves for more than 10 people, so some moves are not shown on these maps.
