I’ve taken to carrying a Flip video camera in my truck and I’ve started to shoot the more “interesting” things I see while out appraising foreclosures. As we get in them before they’re listed for sale, we get to see them in all their skanky glory. Over the years I’ve seen some crazy things from Sakrete (quick set concrete mix) poured into toilets, to flooded homes, to homes literally axed apart, to homes set up to hydroponically grow pot to one of the best to this day – a townhouse in Albany NY that had about two feet of soil in two bedrooms where the owner grew pot.
I posted an interesting video of a rat infested home a short time ago. Today’s videos are more routine….
Here’s a home about 3-4 years old which typifies the kind of work many foreclosures need. Torn up kitchen, bathrooms, drywall, carpet….and a distinct smell of puke. Oh yeah, it was on the landing path of Atlanta Hartsfield and about a quarter mile from busy railroad tracks. Good Ole\’ Trashed Atlanta Foreclosure
Then there’s this one. This is an older home in need of updating and repair – nothing crazy. The “ahhh” was an oldie but a goodie….dog feces. I was given a heads up by the maintenance firm that house was “covered in it”. As soon as I hung up I prepared – and made certain I had fresh batteries in the video camera. Unfortunately I arrived just as they were finishing scraping it out, literally. I did however catch the stank. Check out how the floors are literally stained and cupped due to the continued exposure to the “product”. Obviously I called for refinishing but I think many areas will need to be replaced. Here’s the Rat House and be certain to look for additional videos as we post them.
