This past week, with much fanfare Inman’s Agent Reboot came to Hawaii for the first time. It was highly publicized event and, as expected, attendance was high with many professionals flying in from the outer islands to join their fellow Oahu Realtors. On the flight home, I overheard a couple of agents discussing whether it is worth going to Agent Reboot. My unequivocal answer: YES!!! There are countless reasons, but for the sake of brevity let’s explore just a few:
- The amount of information shared was absolutely astronomical. The agenda is a firehose approach, with sessions being short and concise yet packed full of useful information. Fluff? Not at Agent Reboot.
- Chris Smith, Katie Lance et al know the industry inside and out, they ARE where technology meets real estate. I had seen/read some of Darin Persinger’s work before all over the RE net, but his presentation on video now turned me into a forever fan. Nicole Nicoley did not disappoint with her humorous yet informative sessions (when is the next birthday dance video?). In short, all the presenters are phenomenal at what they do.
- Technology moves at the speed of light. It would take countless hours every day to scrape the surface of all the new technologies becoming available and much more time to experiment to make a practical use out of a small percentage of those apps. Real estate agents do not NEED to be early adopters, but they need to learn ways to effectively implement new tech to better serve their clients.
I can conclusively say that I learned more about technology applications (and how to effectively use them in real estate) in one day at AR than I had in the previous six months and I would highly encourage ANY professional – from a newbie to an advanced techie – to attend Agent Reboot next time it comes to a city nearby. Knowledge is Power, so Power on!

Yes! I think the Agent Reboot on Hawaii was very informative and helpful. I was away and was not able to attend in person, but we were able to follow and learn via the generous live tweeting of the participants using the agent reboot hashtag. Would definitely want to attend next time.
