Blog for PACT – Police and Clergy Team in The Heights area of Houston.

Heights Chamber Crime Prevention Breakfast was held this morning at the Baptist Temple on West 20th Street.

This is such an informative meeting from all aspects of Crime Prevention.  We have residents from the Heights area as well as chamber members and business owners from around the Heights area.

The HPD officers from the Heights area as well as surrounding law enforcement officers are present.

Each time we meet we explore options on how the Heights community can help working hand in hand with law enforcement to better handle issues that affect the area.

Whether it be burgulary,  domestic violence and other aspects of law enforcement as well.

We have business owners from all aspects of the community that are trying to stay in touch with community activities attend and mostly for us to be and stay informed about what is going on in our community.

This meeting we had the Police and Clergy Team join us to help get a program off the ground with respects to the Police Officers and area Clergy members to work together with Crime scenes and other helping with youth of the area.   This is such a good program and all of the Houston area can have benefit from it.   It is where volunteer clergy members for all volunteer their time to work with area officers to learn how to ride and help with the victims of the crimes that happen in the Heights area.

The program started in Houston in the Southwest side Fondren area with a great success and now the program is spreading around the area and Heights has been approached now to work with the clergy within their area to volunteer their time and help.

I am putting the email address here for readers that are interested, or just want to be informed about what is happening in Heights area.    Go to the website for more details and volunteer forms.  Should you know of someone that would be good at this effort or clergy that may want to donate their time,  please have them contact.    Senior Police Officer Barry Curtis, Houston Police Department at (713) 308-3241 or the numbers and emails on the website.
