I wish I had the time to do nothing but look for a cause, because the “Occupy” cottage industry seems to be looking for a few good nuts.
After setting up at the Fulton County GA courthouse for the Nov ’11 foreclosure on 11/1, they have decided to take up residence at one of the homes set for eviction. Last week it was chants like “hell no we won’t go”, “blood sucking banks” and of the course the “what do we want? JUSTICE. When do we want it? NOW” Those 10 people had no effect on the process other than a few minutes on TV. Now they’ve decided to move into a home set for eviction.
Let me say that what’s going on with folks losing their homes is terrible and I’m an advocate for doing what is needed to keep owners LEGITIMATELY trying to makes ends meet in their homes. In cases where proven hardship exists and there’s a record of fiscal responsibility, the feds should do what they can to keep from adding to the foreclosure inventory and putting a family out.
However, many of these cases are simple greed and stupidity – in my opinion neither is cause for intervention. If you make dimes and spend dollars, sorry. If you used that home like an ATM on frivolous nonsense then pay the piper. If you enter into contracts without understanding them, whose fault is that? Point the finger in the mirror…sorry.
