ABOUT ME
|
|
Born in Baltimore, MD in 1971, I was the first child of my parents who are still together today. Because my father was in the merchant marines, we moved around quite a bit.
I spent most of my adolesence in Florida then moved to South Florida to attend Florida Atlantic University after graduating community college with an AA in Computer Science.
In South Florida, I attained a Bachelors in Marketing and Sales Promotion and another Associates degree in Paralegal. I worked in various fields such as health insurance and managed care as well as bookkeeping and ecommerce.
When the internet industry took a dive in 2001, I re-evaluated my options and took my mother's advice to move to California, where they lived, for more career opportunities. It did't take me long to realize I didn't really enjoy living in the Los Angeles area, especially after my first trip to Mammoth.
As you can imagine, coming from Florida, winter snow sports were not a common vacation. But I founds some new friends willing to teach me and we came to Mammoth for a weekend in late May, but still plenty of snow for the beautiful spring skiing and snowboarding (I board mostly but can also ski).
Upon returning home after that weekend, I was determined to live in a place like Mammoth. So the following October, I drove up with a friend to look at apartments and rented one in June Lake (about 15 minutes north). I moved up by myself and was coincidentally laid off from my remote job. I was in a bit of a situation. No job and not many job opportunities for a professional at a ski resort so I rode it out on unemployment for about 6 months. Probably the best, yet poorest, 6 months of my life.
Once summer arrived, I knew I needed a job and real estate seemed to be booming. I worked for a well known franchise as office manager and advertising manager then transitioned in to assisting the broker with his own real estate business. When he decided to move out of state with his family, he encouraged me to get my real estate license which I did.
I had some jobs in property management and vacation rentals, but none seemed to offer me the challenge and rewards as being my own boss as a REALTOR. I joined Coldwell Banker Mammoth Real Estate in May of 2005 as a home office agent and recently took office space at our firm located on the main throughway of town.
I've been in Mammoth for 5 years now and not a chance I want to leave.
