Andy,
this is for you in regards to your post about being kicked out of offices. Of coarse tonight I only see 3 new post for the whole day....
This is from a member on Loan Tool Box done in 1996. The information has not changed on how to do this, a few of us LTB members wanted to try this out again in 2007-2008... I thought I would share this with my Wn people.
I have the actually newsletter so if someone wants it I can email to you, sorry apparently the file is to large for wannanetwork.
When starting my career in the mortgage business (and being a single mom) I knew I had to get to know realtors quickly or give it up. I decided to take the initiative and do something different than others walking in with rate sheets.
I called the broker (office manager) and told her that I was publishing a free newsletter that would go to area-wide offices. I conveyed to her I had heard that their office was the most successful in the city and I'd like to spotlight her agency by dropping by and interviewing her to discover the secret to her success. One thing I know - people love to toot their own horn!
I took my notepad, a list of questions, and interviewed the broker. It was actually very interesting. While there, I requested the names of her top 2 listing agents, top 2 selling agents, and the up and coming rookie of the year. I then set interview times for all five of these people. Once finished, I put together a 4-page newsletter and had 250 copies of it made. I dropped the newsletter off to their office and about 5 others offices that I wanted to also get in.
Realtors, having a very competitive nature, began to ask me when their company would be 'spotlighted'. Of course, I did the same thing 5 more months in a row. After six months in the business I had more business than I knew what to do with. In addition, other agents in the office immediately knew who I was upon arrival. It was an effective way, not to mention value-added, of setting myself apart from the other LO's that dropped by with their business cards and rate sheets. Try it!
