A post thumbnail image is the photo that shows up next to your article summary on the home page, as well as on internal searches.
Adding a thumbnail image next to your blog post’s summary is an important step to ensure you readers click through to the rest of the content.
The following steps take place once you’re in the post editor screen:
Step 1: Choose a photo from Flickr, Google, iStockphoto… – (tutorial)
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom right under “Categories” and “Tags”
Step 3: Click “Set featured image”
Step 4: Upload photo
Step 5: Choose “Use as featured image”
Step 6: Click Save
The theme will automatically re-size your thumbnail image for you.
If you don’t like the way it looks, you can easily edit the image or add a new one.
This image does not have to be included in your post content area. Sometimes it’s a good idea to use a thumbnail image that will attract attention and entice the reader to click through and look at your post.
